Welcome to my Coat On Coat Off Wellbeing Walks

With a passion for getting out walking and so many of you following my walks I have decided to put together a relaxed and friendly walking group so that you can join me on my walks.
The walks will be venturing into different terrains, including woods, farmlands, fields, pathways, roadways and there will be a mixture of on and off road due to our location in the countryside and if you would like to join me as I cannot guarantee the state of the pathways or puddles and mud I would suggest you are prepared with a good pair of walking boots or waterproof socks!
You are welcome to join me on my adventures as I would love to share with you the routes I have enjoyed over the last couple of years, and some you will find in my new book Coat On Coat Off Wet Feet’ but please remember when you are joining my walks you are fully responsible for yourself, Vicki Harrison (Coat on Coat Off Well Being Walks) cannot be held liable for injury or damage to property – it is as if you are simply walking yourself so please take care when walking and think of others.
Well behaved dogs on leads can join initially, but you again are responsible for them and please note there may be areas where we pass livestock and you must keep them on leads, however, please note if for some reason this doesn’t work within the walking group then I will need to reconsider. I also aim to plan the walks accessible for dogs but please note that we will come across stiles and can only be guided by the App in which I use as to whether these are all ones that can get through but if they change them to ones we have to lift dogs over (which is no good for me and my dog either) then we may need to adapt a route.
Mileage, although I am aiming for 3 mile and 6-mile figure of 8 routes, these are approximate miles, and the routes may be slightly under or over as it depends on how close I can get to this target mileage. I will always do my best to get spot on! I aim to walk at a speed or between 2 – 3 miles per hour estimating that a 3 mile walk will take approx. 1.5 hours which is why the 2nd part of the route has been estimated at 1.5 hours after the start but please note these are estimated and again may need to be adapted as the walking group starts and I have an idea of everyone’s pace, which is always going to be a bit tricky as we all walk at different paces, but I am trying to cater for all
Re toilets and refreshments, although I will always try to plan a route that consists of these being available, sometimes when out in the countryside these cannot always be guaranteed so you may need to prepare yourself for wild wees.
Ultimately this group has been set up to go exploring, make friends, gain confidence, discover nature and what we have around us and overtime the walks can be adapted as the group grows. I have not set this group up as a big walking business, simply someone who loves walking that wishes to share with others my walks so you can experience the love I have for walking and the great outdoors.
I would love you to join me but also want you to be aware that you are experiencing the adventure and anything that may happen unpredicted on the day with me and I cannot be accountable for what that may be. As long as everyone is sensible and responsible for themselves and their actions then I am sure that together we can make this group a huge success.
Please note I am asking for a donation of £1 per walk (£2 if you are doing Parts 1 and 2) which will be donated to the charity of the month which I will notify you each month what this charity will be. I walk myself on fundraising events doing Ultra Marathons and would like to continue giving to charities and this way by you making a small donation to the walks will improve what we can give these charities.
The days I have provided to you for joining me on a walk is what I believe I can offer you all regularly and I know that I cannot offer weekends of evenings which is not ideal for all I know but because I also myself run my own business (The Tall Dog Small Business Book Keeping Services), I need to continue running this successfully to enable me to fund this group. I also have a child at school so am working around school run times also to provide you all these walks. I do apologise in advance if something does happen unexpectedly that I cannot hold a walk for some reason and will of course let you know in advance through Facebook so please do make sure you follow the new Coat On Coat Off Wellbeing Walks page
Regarding walking in all weathers, I am a believer that we should not be put off by any conditions, unless they are dangerous storms and winds and it becomes unsafe, so even when it is raining, I will still be walking and again feel free to join me (just make sure you have good waterproofs). I simply ask that if you have let me know that if you change your mind and are not walking when saying that you were that you contact me to notify me, so I can keep an eye on numbers. Again a reminder that if you choose to walk you are responsible for your own health and safety and I cannot be held liable for any injury or damage to yourself or property when you are out exploring with me.
Re locations of walks: I aim to walk around a variety of locations and terrains and will try to do my best about getting a public transport location nearby, but this may always not be possible. If you are parking in an area to start the walk, I cannot be responsible for your vehicle, theft, loss or damage.
Thank you again and Happy Walking, come armed with walking boots and or waterproof socks, refreshments, drinks, enthusiasm, energy and anything else you feel you need to bring with you on your walks. Hope to see you all soon.
I will put up dates of walks in the upcoming weeks but the start date is Tuesday 4th March 2025 Tuesday – Visit The Events Page for details
