Thursday 6th November – 10am – Iping, Elsted & Stedham Common – Meeting at The Iping Common Car Park at 9.45am for a 10am start we will head over the common enjoying the views of the beautiful bright heathland and South Downs in the distance. We will cross over the Elsted Road, head towards Fitzhall Lodge, over to the Copse towards Minsted and Quags Corner before heading back over Minsted common to the start. This is a beautiful circular 5km (approx. 3 miles) walk taking in great views of the heathlands, woodlands, and South Downs as well as the seeing possible horses enroute (in fields in the distance). This walk is suitable for dogs and you are more than welcome to bring them. Sometimes there are cattle in the common areas at various times of the year and then dogs would need to go on leads around this section.
We will walk through the heathers and woodlands and around the farm land and you will have views toward the South Downs. Boots or wellies are highly recommended as this route can get quite muddy in places especially after rain. The route does have a little road walking in places so care is to be taken on these and the ground can be uneven in places due to the sand and mud and tree routes on the common. As before you are responsible for your own health and safety. £1 per walk donation towards the charity of the month. No refreshments or facilities enroute. ///subsystem.cleanser.doubts
Thursday 6th November – 11.30am – Chithurst Buddhist Monastery – Meeting at The Iping Common Car Park at 11.15am for a 11.30am start we will head over the common towards the Chithurst Buddhist Monastery where we will visit the monastery, meander through the gardens before heading back along the fields at the back of Trotton before reaching Iping again and back to the start.
Cittaviveka, also known as Chithurst Buddhist Monastery, is a monastery in the tradition of Theravada Buddhism, more specifically in the lineage of the Thai forest masters. This is a beautiful 6.5km (approx. 4 miles) walk taking in great views of the heathlands, and South Downs as well as the tranquillity and peace of the monastery. There is a couple of stiles on this route and because of the visit to the monastery dogs are not recommended to come along on this walk.
We will walk through the heathers and woodlands and around the farm land and you will have views toward the South Downs. Boots or wellies are highly recommended as this route can get quite muddy in places especially after rain. The route does have a little road walking in places so care is to be taken on these and 1 steep incline on the way back but other than this the route is flat. As before you are responsible for your own health and safety. £1 per walk donation towards the charity of the month. No refreshments enroute but there is toilet facilities at the monastery. ///subsystem.cleanser.doubts
