FEBRUARY 2026 WALKS

During February 2026 we will be raising money for Sussex Search and Rescue who dedicate their time to help the people of Sussex that need them the most when their loved ones go missing.

Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR) is the primary search resource for Sussex Police. We are a dedicated team of professionally trained and equipped local volunteers who can employ specialist skills in the search for vulnerable missing persons

Sussex Search & Rescue (SusSAR) is one of many Lowland Search & Rescue units which exist across the country. They are affiliated to Lowland Rescue who co-ordinate the county-based groups and set the training standards they have to adhere to.

As a 100% volunteer organisation their members give their time free of charge and expect nothing in return but satisfaction from a job well done. They exist to serve the community of Sussex through the goodwill of our members and charitable donations.

They can be called out by Sussex Police and neighbouring units at any time day or night. Their team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year whatever the weather.

They dedicate their time to help the people of Sussex that need us the most when their loved ones go missing.

THURSDAY 5TH FEBRUARY – Chichester Channel, Fishbourne Palace & Chichester Cathedral Circular 8.8 miles – 14.2km

Meeting at 9.15am at Chichester Cathedral we will make our way around the Alltrails route which takes you along the banks of Chichester Channel to the outskirts of Fishbourne, where we will pass the Fishbourne Roman Palace. We will also join the Chichester Canal and walk a section of this. The Cathedral was founded in 1075 and The Roman Palace has the oldest surviving gardens in the country as well as a large collection of beautiful mosaics.

After the rain there are likely to have some rather muddy stretches of the trail so waterproof footwear is recommended. Car Parking Fees will apply and you can park in any of the car parks in Chichester and meet at the Cathedral for 9.15am to start walking at 9.30am promptly.

Allowing 4 hours for this walk it is a new walk and a new experience so we look forward to discovering this walk together. The trail says this is one of the easier walks which hopefully means it is a relaxing flat walk. We should be able to discover toilet and refreshment facilities on the way at sections around the trail as we will go past places in Chichester as well as Chichester Marina and Dell Quay.
